Terms of service.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website at karob.ai and the Karob study platform (together, the “Service”), operated by Karob (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Each account is for a single individual — sharing credentials or operating multiple accounts is not permitted. Notify us immediately at hello@karob.ai if you believe your account has been compromised.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that remain inactive for an extended period, with reasonable notice where practicable.

Your content

You retain full ownership of the materials you upload to Karob (“Your Content”). By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process, store, and display Your Content solely as necessary to provide the Service to you — for example, generating structured notes, flashcards, quizzes, and concept graphs from your materials.

We do not use Your Content to train machine-learning models. We do not claim any ownership interest in Your Content. You may delete Your Content at any time, and we will remove it from our active systems within 30 days.

You represent that you have the right to upload all content you submit and that Your Content does not infringe the intellectual property or other rights of any third party.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, harassing, or that infringes the rights of others.
• Use the Service to distribute malware, spam, or other harmful material.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service or its underlying models.
• Circumvent rate limits, access controls, or other technical measures we put in place.
• Resell, sublicence, or redistribute the Service or any output it generates, except for your own personal or internal educational use.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate this section, at our discretion and without prior notice where necessary.

Plans, billing, and cancellation

Karob offers both free and paid plans. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on the plan you select). All fees are quoted in US dollars unless otherwise stated.

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will retain access to paid features until then. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by applicable law.

We may change our pricing with at least 30 days’ notice. Price changes will apply at the start of your next billing cycle after the notice period.

Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, features, code, and branding, is owned by Karob and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use Karob’s trademarks, logos, or brand features without prior written consent.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Karob uses AI models to generate study materials from your uploads. AI-generated outputs may contain errors or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any content generated by the Service before relying on it.

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Karob and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Karob and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service at least 30 days before the new terms take effect. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
